RPNA organized our first ever neighborhood Wine Walk last Friday night, May 18th. More than 80 neighbors enjoyed wine, snacks, and socializing at the three stops along the walk.

Special thanks to our Wine Walk Chair (and the originator of the event) Irene Benavides, as well as our location hosts: Wes and Sue Wheeler, Irene Mitchell & Alan Brown, and Don Gilbert & Yvette Martinez.

Wine Walk II will definitely be on our RPNA calendar for 2019!

Cliff Spohr, the Rush Creek Watershed Committee Chairman, recently met with Steve Parker, Tam Vu, and Kim Dewailly of Dallas' Floodplain Management, concerning the redrawing by FEMA of the floodplain map for the Ridgewood Park neighborhood.

The new, FEMA approved map shows that none of the houses that were in the 100 year floodplain before the project was completed are in it any longer. The inconveniences we endured during the two years it took to complete the street drainage improvements and the flood water diversion were worth it after all!

Residents whose homes fall in what was formerly the floodplain should contact their homeowners insurance company about revising their designation. Please be aware that additional documentation, such as structure elevation certificates, may be required.

Tam Vu of Dallas' Floodplain Management Office has been very helpful to Cliff and other neighbors in providing explanations and documentation. You can reach Tam directly at 214-948-4683 if you have more questions about your specific property.
